The item set is done (well aside from mistakes I have yet to find).

Going have to be careful assembling this without an XMLEditor able to handle the new features. I'm thinking the initial AFS release will not have multiple vendor selections (like the last AFS). End of the month / early February as far as my best guess for ETA.

I'm running into some odd issues with the secondary gun attachments - cannot seem to hit with shotguns. For now I've reversed the rifle/shotgun for a lot of combos, so that the shotgun is the base weapon and the rifle attaches. This seems to be helping, as shotguns work, while the rifle is still landing some hits.

I may do an "ADCAP" style release of AFS v4.xx in the next few days (ie. without full documentation) so that our hero Flugente (I still remember who gave us the infrastructure for a half dozen different rifle grenades) and others will have something with all these features in use to help in testing. Oh, and to increase the number of opportunities for feedback on these advance capabilities.

Ok folks, I'm going through assembly of AFS v4.xx preview 20130209 right now, making sure it starts under a clean install of SCI_Unstable_Revision_5845_on_GameDir_1602 / JA2_5853. Skipping the documentation as this is only a preview. Aside from documentation the following isn't done yet:

- refining the multiple Gear Kits (where did all these mercs come from?)
- Tripwire item transformations (I just found out I left these out)
- Random Items (I put this off until a new XML Editor is done, but simply don't have time to see if the problems I was seeing in earlier versions is occurring here)
- Themed equipment (I just used the coolness planning to generate gun/item selection XML's based on the new class specific tables, ie. those silly admins and their decorative .22 revolvers)
- testing (well that's what anyone who downloads it will be doing)

Reason I am releasing this:
1) Attachment guns do not seem to be working:
- cannot hit anything with underslung shotgun
- special (explosive) ammo does not seem to do anything when fired from an underslung so Gumpy's "high-end" gearkit is not everything it can be
- want to produce something with lots of examples of attached secondary guns for Flugente to test

2) I need a break from this, and the unfinished stuff isn't going to affect the tester's enjoyment of the testing (well except for the stuff they find that is horribly broken)

Much appreciated. Time to go kick some ass... again! Just need to go polish my bug squintin' glasses first.

Preliminary squashing:
Walther PPK/S gives a ? instead of a targeting cursor. Oops!
.380, 6 round mags hold 7 rounds.
Tony has some integral laser sights for sale for a buck.
The AK bayonet doesn't allow for wire cutting even though its description hints that it should.
FN Barracuda .38SPC accepts PEM scope and rifle grenades. Yeow!

Aside from descriptions, weapon sounds and gear kits needing to be looked over (I'll try to document the worst of it, eventually), this plays like a dream. Having to get by with crappy handguns and rifles is just fantastic. Feels so nice, so nice. I bow to you, wil. Amazing work. Hopefully the fun keeps going into and past the mid-game. Smile

I've made some further tweaks to CTHConstants.ini. Should make low level mercs more capable and turn high levels ones into honed killing machines. Close combat heaven. Still untested with scopes and lasers so I'll keep tuning it as I go.

This is not a balance change but instead my implementation of Flugente's Externally fed machineguns. Weapons with dual belt/magazine feed now have the magazine capacity which is not touched as long as you have a belt in the appropriate feed pocket/2nd merc's hands. Belts in-game are more like belt segments now in the 40-50 round range, but can stack in the right pockets up to 200 rounds.

Fixed the FN Barracuda .38 SPC for Preview 2.

The AK Bayonet has the wire cutter tag set (identical stats as the KCB Knife). Have you had a chance to test the KCB or actual wire cutters yet?

Glad you liked the early game balance. We'll see if my NCTH/OCTH adjusments keeps the game challenging through mid and late game.

Ahh I see, thanks for the clarification. There is one problem I noticed though, and that's with some 30-rd MGs ejecting magazines instead of belts, making them receive magazines instead. This is true for the Minimi, HK21/23, NEGEV commando, where there is no way (that I know of) that these weapons can be made to be belt-fed in the game, but ejecting their ammo would yield magazines instead.

This is a bit of a trouble when starting out, I purchased a Minimi from Bobby Rays at the start along with 5.56 ammo, but there was no way to convert the ammo into the belt-fed type that the Minimi requires. Instead the ammo box produces magazines, which can't be continuously fed with the mentioned weapons.

Anyway, my main gripe is, is there any way you can turn magazines into ammo belts besides inserting them into a belt fed weapon to create the ammo belt?

A Few more niggles for you:

-The MP5K to PDW Conversion doesn't allow the stock to be unfolded once the merge is made. Only gives a folded stock picture with no item transformation button.

-The PPK/PPKs problem seems to be with most of the 380 pistols (although I'm sure you've probably realised this already)

-Pepper spray does only 1 point of health damage but no energy damage? Not entirely sure how it is meant to work with the new feature but is this correct?

-Some of the new AR15 system weapons (CAR-22A3, AR-22A3 AR-22A4)don't come with a default stock item when supplied from Bobby Ray's. Not sure if I've misread the new stock system implementation or not?

Pepper spray isn't intended to do breath damage. It also isnt intended to do health damage, so the damage is rather too high in this case. It is intended to be sprayed in another persons (ungasmasked) face, and, if successful, will blind.

I think one of the new inventory management features allows you to separate ammo crates into various magazine sizes depending on the merc's pockets. Don't have time to go over the exact process right now, but you have to be wearing LBE with the ammo belt pocket to produce belts (yes I know this is going to be a problem if you want to just have a 2nd merc feed ammo from a hand slot).

Fixed incorrect ammo capacity for Mossburg 500 (.410 Bore).

Quite a few MP5 were messed up during the relocation process. I've fixed the MP5K-PDW, MP5N, MP5F, MP5/10 and MP5/40 transformations.

I only found one other .380 ACP with the wrong targeting cursor. On the other hand it looks like all the AK-12's have the wrong cursor. All fixed.

Fixed the missing default stocks for the CAR-22, and AR-22. This bug shouldn't cause any problems as lack of stock under the new system means no modification (same with the fixed stock it has no modification value and is meant to simply show up to indicate nothing is changing).

Ahh, finally figured it out. Right clicking on the picture of the ammo crate does the trick as long as you have an Ammo Belt inventory slot, that should do the trick. Thanks! Also, I'm having lots of fun despite being just a preview of things to come. Great Job! Very Happy

I've already noted the Regen/Energy booster issue in the release post. Sorry I forgot the new tags.

The underslung shotguns I'm somewhat leery of, not sure if the handling values (NCTH) are adding together but they seem unnecessarily hard to hit (when I reverse the shotgun and rife components, the shotgun hits as expected).

Additionally, "special" shotgun ammo does not seem to do anything. This applies to lockbuster (putting in question the Masterkey) and high explosive ammo. Again, if I reverse the rifle and shotgun in the combo, the "special" shotgun ammo works fine. Please see if anyone can replicate my findings many of the combo shotguns have their stats lifted from the Masterkey (only reversed in that the rifle attaches to the shotgun instead of the other way around).

Wolf, when do you get free ammo, when you separate an AR or just when you buy the lower receiver? I had to switch back to using a real ammo type for the lower due to default attachments being missing if there is not a valid magazine in the gun when it is delivered from BR's.

What you are seeing is probably just shipments getting lost or stolen. Even if you stop Pablo from being a problem to your shipments there is still a 10% chance something will happen to a particular item. Rare, but statistically viable for the majority of a shipment to go missing as I think each item has a 10% chance of not arriving.

I always thought it was a chance for every item. Anyways, shipments going missing goes beyond the scope of this mod, unless someone wants me to ship with the INI set to something different than stock.

A few more small issues for you:

-The Mosberg Cruiser has no Bobby Ray's Description.
-The Beretta CX Storm .40 carbine has no default scope (IIRC it was the 2x scope in the previous versions)
-The TASER website also states that it is designed only to attach to Picatinny rails so perhaps it should only be attachable to a bottom RIS slot rather than all bottom slots on the AR15 pattern weapons?

Some more anecdotal stuff:

I really like the start of the game balance makes things much more challenging when playing on Extreme. Although a good merc with a full auto .22 weapon actually seems more deadly than one with a larger calibre due to the lack of recoil.

The TASER seems a bit too accurate and possibly too long ranged. I find myself using it in preference to a SMG when attached to it. Perhaps a range of 7 (IIRC the longest ranged cartridge is about 35ft IRL but accuracy at that range is very dicey).

I'm having the same problem with Tony as Wolf but it seems to be intermittent. Happens about a 1/3 of the time.

Also happening with the explosives dealer as well.

Wolf and Tango, did you upgrade to Preview 2 before the CTD's started? There were a few item changes that would have impacted availability of items.

I'll take a look at saves, just send along word if it is consistent CTD for the save or if I have to talk to Tony/Micky multiple times before it CTD's. Project's Gmail.com email is: uc.ja2113.projects

Hopefully after work I'll be in a condition to see what is going on.

Mosberg Cruiser .410bore has no description of any kind - will fix when not suffering from cold/flu/whatever is passing through office

Beretta CX Storm .40 carbine - 1.5 Scope Sight added back

Taser - changed range to 100 from 150 (not sure if I want to go down to 70 yet), attachment point = "RIS - Grippod (Bottom)" for future releases

EDIT: we might want to rename Flugente's "Stun Gun" as it is a contact weapon.

i have fresh install from yesterday,sci 5845/1602 using 5853 exe & preview 2 instaled .. this bug i see first time in preview 1,btw 9x18mm makarov tracer have special tag or something ? cant find this ammo on B.R shop ..

Please also note any INI customization - there really shouldn't be any as the preview is meant to help debug the mod, but I know my audience...

Tried your save game Tango, able to talk to Tony just fine on 2 of 2 loads of the save game. I did not see anything odd in what he had on sale, but oddly he had the icon for feeding ammo showing in the lower left corner once in the sale screen (but he looked fine in the normal dialogue screen).
