Hey guys, informal thread here. I would like to hear about your experiences playing the AFS mod (or variants). How has it changed how you play? Have any kickass stories to tell? How do you like to play? What gear do you give your mercs? What's important to you, what isn't important?

Edit: Feel free to share anything you have to say! The internet seems like a lonely place, I'd love to hear from others that have enjoyed this mod or JA2 in general!

I'm on an insane game right now, captured everything besides grumm and meduna, currently at grum. So far in playing i think that weapons with low handling are just plain superior to others. Any system that allows modular stocks and western rails is going to be the best setup from what I've noticed.

Smoke grenades and anything like them are a must.

The only thing that is a little irritating is hip-shooting as the AI is curiously good at it. The M249 SAW PIP, I think the name is, is the most effective MG system i've seen, so far. That's counting any 7.63x51 in BR or dropped. They do great damage but they just dont come close to hitting anything at a distance.

The only story I guess I have is a 100+ enemy counterattack at Cambria. I set the enemy in tactical limit to 40 at the start of the campaign but had yet to be hit this hard. I was completely surrounded at night in rural area, running desperately low on ammo. I had to pick up random weapons from fallen enemies, some of them jamming of course. The crazy thing was that I was getting pretty close to losing when I realized I could use my radioman to call in reinforcements. The blue shirts got there *JUST* in time to save my team.

Tired right now, will post more soon. Neutral
