My ignorance might offend some of the programmer, but could someone say why the theory I am gonna list below isn't possible?

Take a look here:

Animation Data.h
https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2/branches/Jones/html/Animation_01Data_8h-source.html
- looks like here they defined the types of body types + animation types
Q: can we add a new body type with a new set of animations? Let's say New Regular Male (NRGM...)

Animation Data.cpp
https://81.169.133.124/source/ja2/branches/Jones/html/Animation_01Data_8cpp-source.html
- here looks like they defined which sti coresponds to which animation + which JSD goes to which bodytype
Q: can add a new set of animations for the above mentioned NRGM? And borrow the JSD from his ancestor, the Reg Male?

--- ---- ----
Until a programmer answers, lets unfold the rest of the plan:
For starters, we don't want new STIs for the NRGM, we can borrow the ones from RGM. If everything works ok, we will use NRGM as the default body type for all the mercs under player's control. So, bingo, they no longer look like the soldiers.

Now, that we have a bodytype free of restrictions and we don't fear it might affect civilians or anyone else but the mercs, the posibilities of customizing how you mercs look are endless. We can give them bulletproof vests, unforms, berets, whatever our imagination and sprite rendering skills allow.

I'd prefer a "body-switch" where you can arm civilians, or sent Fox in miniskirts on a reconaisance mission

the animation system is said to be very complicated. The few that have worked with it (Bugmonster, Callahan) may tell you more about that :whoknows:

@gorro

there are bodytype switches. More of them would be quite fun. But i think since the days of trailblazer, people haven't been interested in such scripts anymore.

demise of man mod has two bunches of aliens but there are problems with missing animations. especially if you try to play alienmode.
