Hi everyone!

I've been enjoying the 1.13 Mod for quite a while now and thought I'd couple it with Wildfire for some new challenges.

I used Scheinworld's AllInOne-installer and the full version of Wildfire, new ini-file an vfs-config are up and running. So far as starting, playing and (ini-)tweaking are concerned, it works like a charm. With one exception: a lot of maps are broken, cluttered with random objects. Mostly those metal-thingies with the rags (laundry racks?), wirecages, tyre stacks a.s.o.

Omerta for example is completely f***ed up, with laundry racks lining the pond in the western area of A9 and most of the buildings are a mess. At least I assume there should be buildings because between the onslaught of random objects there are roof-tiles and furniture sticking out now and then.

A10 is the same, the underground level (rebel base) however is how it is supposed to be in WiFi. Drassen Airport was fine, but one of the farmland sectors was again heavily cluttered with junk objects.

That's by now all of the sectors I've tested. Removing the broken sector files from the WiFi-Data/Maps-folder puts them back to JA-original state and thus makes it at least playable, but honestly - where's the point in that? In some cases it nearly appears to be a mixup of original and new maps but I'm not sure about that.

What I did not try, was installing my old retail version of WiFi and copying the map files from there, cause I don't know which changes there might have been since the release.

I already googled my fingers off and searched some forums but did not find any occurances of this particular problem (but hey, that doesn't say much, I might be just dumb after all). I'm sure that I simply overlooked something quite obvious, so please make me feel embarassed by rubbing the ridiculously easy solution in my face... Wink

Thanks in advance!

welcome to the pit fozzie bear

the prob is someone (probably sheinworld or gocman) got it wrong - the maps are correct, but they use thze wrong tilesets - if the correct is used those dust-pins in omerta transform into gras - when i install wf 6.06 on my own i always f*ck it up on my own - i manafed to do it wright just once

So what can I do about it? Temporarily replace the original tileset files in ja2\Data with those from ja2\Wildfire6.06-Data ?

All right, I downloaded, extracted and copied...
To test it, I have to start up Windows first (I'm using Linux and Win XP is not allowed a connection to the infested outside world which we like to call the web... Wink )

But I'll try it out and come back soon.

Hmmm... unfortunately, the alternative tileset files did not make any difference. It's clearly not the same set, since the accumulated filesizes are different, but no change in appearance whatsoever. I even renamed the tileset folders in Data and Data-1.13 to rule out any interference between the differing sets.

I uploaded the tileset folder as a 7z archive to my Skydrive.

Hope this helps (you probably have to replace the files in the "0" folder for the items with the latest from the Item mod if you are using that... or if you use VFS setup with seperate folders for AIM and WF, the tileset folder belongs into the Data-WF folder).

I put it in Wildfire6.06-Data as I thought it was supposed to be there.
If I copy them into the "Vanilla"-Data-Folder, I guess I'd have to make a backup of the tileset-folder therein or it would mess up the non-WiFi maps, or am I mistaken there?

And again, no change whatsoever. Wicked...
I even loaded a normal 1.13 game with the WiFi-tilesets in the Ja2\Data AND the Ja2\Data-1.13 folder and all maps seemed quite unaltered.

Perhaps I missed something?

How am I supposed to know what's going wrong?

I'm a map maker not a setup genius...

As I said, take the tilesets and copy them to the Data-WF folder you use. This should usually work...

Sadly, the usual doesn't seem to work in my case. Kind of confuses me, especially since the tilesets do not appear to have any effect at all. I mean, with only the WiFi tilesets present anywhere shouldn't at least some change be noticeable when starting a normal 1.13-game?

Hallo Fozzi,

Fozzie

I've uploaded a "tilesetsmix_test.7z" file:
http://rapidshare.com/files/375517695/tilesetsmix_test.exe

Let's try it again in this way:

1. fresh install of JA2
2. Allinone9
3. German WF6.06-Mod (just extract it into the main folder of your JA2 install)
4. "tilesetsmix_test.7z" (extract it into the main folder of your JA2 install as well; updated Ja2_Options.ini file + VFS setup are already included!)

I hope it works. Good luck!

Best regards; Schein

The correct tilesets alone are not enough. You also need the correct JA2SET in the correct binarydata.

When you alter a tileset with JA2TSE the effect is written to a file called JA2SET which lives in binarydata. This tells the game such and such tilesets have been altered and are now to be read from the copied or newly made sti's in the tilesets folders. Otherwise it will always revert back to vanilla. Within each tileset is a file called (T) which needs matching 1/5th sized versions of all new or copied sti's in order to render the whole map view. Hope that is of some help.

Whatever JA2Set file WF6.06 used must be copied into the binarydata..

Interesting - I found two files of that name in Data-Wildfire6.06\BinaryData.
One with the filename/-extension in all upper-cases and exactly matching the one in Data-1.13\BinaryData and a second with differing size and change date but with the filename in lower-cases. Maybe something went wrong when the new file was copied during the creation of the mod's Data-folder and was supposed to overwrite the existing file, but did not because of the filename not being in upper-cases? So maybe the program just takes the file that is "listed first", which would be the upper-case one?

I think the one you need is the one with change date 26.06.2008 (at least that's the one I use and I never had the problems many people seem to have with the tilesets).
