I was thinking about trying to enable the enemy to use them a while back, just so I could judge their effectiveness. I totally forgot about that. Guess it's time to get back on that project...
Edit: well, that was easy. Can't wait to spend half my time blinded while in combat, now... :/

Update: I modified my enemy item choices xml to include some new toys. Among them... emergency flares and flash bangs as grenade choices.
So now I can stockpile flashbangs, somewhat sustainably without needing to rely on BR. I tested one out in the Tixa dungeon... there's one enemy that persistently camps in the southwestern room, and half the time seems to get an interrupt on me as I enter. Wolf tossed in the flashbang and charged in to find a stunned enemy. He eliminated him with a burst to the skull, quite handily.
Definitely a useful tool in a room clearing arsenal. I can see how you might combine them with tear gas or stun grenades to rapidly storm a building or room. might be putting them to good use in the research facility.
